We are gearing up for a wonderful holiday season at the Chino House.
I haven’t pulled the decorations out yet but I am doing a lot of preparing on paper and in my heart. We’re so excited this year because our church theme for this Christmas is the Advent Conspiracy. Since we already love an upside down Christmas at our house, we are excited to jump in and enjoy this adventure with our church family.
Our women’s holiday event is participating by doing something a little different this year. We’re having a brunch this Saturday where you can shop for items that are handmade or that are directly benefiting a ministry somewhere.
Arkansas Rice Depot will be there. Coffee from small farms. Hand-sewn blankets. Baked goods. Handmade candles. SO much fun.
Mary Polly and I will have a table with lots of Chino House baked goods for sale. We’ll also be taking orders for our annual Cupcakes for a Cause, happening this year on Friday, December 23rd.
I also get to do a demonstration on how you can make and package up some of these things yourself to use for gifts. Homemade gifts is one of the many ways you can participate in the conspiracy to make Christmas less commercial.
If you’re looking for a great handmade Christmas gift, you can easily make these Candied Nuts for anyone on your Christmas list. They are so yummy and you can make them in large batches and then package them up in little cellophane bags!
Here’s a link to some other ideas for a handmade Christmas for your teachers (or neighbors)! Or maybe you want to try homemade ornaments this year!
Happy Advent!
