To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda has been a favorite silly story at the Chino House for years. It’s a modern take on the old nursery rhyme by the same name.
A lady makes multiple trips to the market for animals that keep running away.
She loses all control of her purchases. The animals wreak havoc in her house.
I love this page where the lamb is in the dishwasher. So cute!
The illustrations by Janet Stevens are adorable, like this one where the lady has a duck on her head!
I’ve read this story to many a classroom and I always get big laughs from the kids on this page.
At the end of the story, she goes back to the store for vegetables and makes a big pot of soup for all the animals.
Love it!
