Sucre Pie from the book about Hutterites.
I read this book about Hutterites last year and at the back of the book was this wonderfully simple recipe for a sugar pie. It almost seemed too easy to be good.
But the sweet gal who runs Boxed Lunch Book Club at church always brings a dessert that goes along with our book so she baked this up and it was delicious!
I was in need of a super easy dessert this week for Taido’s youth leader dinner, because less time in the kitchen = more time at the pool!
I’m loving some summertime!
I used (gasp!) store-bought crusts for these, which meant almost absolutely NO work for me! Yay!
And, it was a hit. Not even one bite left of two pies.
All that time in the sun makes people hungry!
Hutterite Sucre Pie
1 cup heavy cream
1 egg
2/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp. corn starch
Beat together above ingredients and pour into a cooled pie crust that has been baked for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake for another 35-40 minutes or until middle does not jiggle.
(note: I tripled this recipe and filled two deep dish crusts with the filling it made.)
Enjoy!
I make this pie with buttermilk instead of heavy cream! yummy. 🙂
