We’ve been in North Yorkshire this week because Taido was presenting and attending a conference in Durham. Cole’s at camp, so I’ve just had three in tow as we explored on our own.
Our favorite day was spent in North York Moors National Park. We went for a walk in the morning up a big hill (Roseberry Topping).
Then we headed to the North York Moors Visitor Center where we played outside (super fun playground) and inside (climbing wall for little ones) before we had lunch in the tea room.

(Hogsmeade!)

We spent between 1-2 hours walking around at each stop and on the way back to our hotel, my daughter said, “Mama, today was a great day!”
That’s high praise y’all.

Such lovely photos. I love the colorful one that looks like little storage houses or something.
Those little beach houses make me insanely happy! YAY FOR COLOR!
I love Yorkshire and these photos are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing the route, very helpful in planning future travels!
Totally got that idea from you Reeta! 🙂 I forgot to mention it but we stayed in Middlesbrough because it was on the train line for Taido to get to his conference every day and also it was super cheap. Both food and lodging! Our whole family ate for less than 14UK in a little place on High St one day!
I always thought of rolling hills and distilleries when I thought of Scotland..great seeing another side to her! Definitely on our bucketlist
Well, this is North England, just a little south of Scotland, but the weather was really similar. Just a few degrees warmer. The greens seemed brighter to me though.
Lovely! The photo of the colorful little houses (?) is stunning.
Thanks so much. I loved those little beach houses! PRESH!
North Yorkshire says nothing to me really, I wouldn’t have guessed it’s that beautiful up there! I’d love to explore that beach too…
I know right? It was really lovely though. Parts of it reminded me of Ireland.

THANK YOU! I loved all the colors too. 🙂
I just love the look of Whitby! So much my kind of place!
Those beach houses TOTALLY reminded me of your post about them, and I spotted a book about them at your house! 🙂
