Sharing a few Instagram snapshots of the Lake District today for #IGTravelThursday, a link up for those who love Instagram + Travel.  I also found a very fun list today of 100 Fantastic Instagram Accounts to Follow for Travelers.  Instagram is definitely changing the way we plan and share our travels!

Yesterday I put up this rainy picture of our stop to see the Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick and my aunt sent back her picture of my uncle standing in the same spot three years ago. I love those kinds of exchanges!

Often when I arrive somewhere, I post a picture of where I am and then the recommendations for food and sightseeing come through in the comments from those who have been there before me! Who even needs a guidebook anymore, right?

We stayed in a fairly remote part of the Lake District, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We did not have internet or cell service for most of the day, which sometimes forces you to enjoy each other a little bit more.  I think it was our most successful family trip together since we’ve moved.  The stars aligned so that we all got along for most of the time, except for maybe the long ride home.

Everyone is a little grouchy when the vacation is over and school is looming! We are back in the swing now and our Tattie Holidays are a distant memory, however I will still be sharing about them over the next couple of weeks.

I can’t wait to tell you all about this adorable hostel we stayed in while in the Lake District. It was our family’s first hostel stay and we are hooked!  This morning Cole even said that he was really missing being at the hostel where he had his own bed!

We hiked several miles every day right around our hostel, which was across from Buttermere Lake. We loved waking up to views of the lake every day, and we did the four mile hike around the lake even though it was threatening rain.

We also hiked high above the lake to take in breathtakingly beautiful scenery. We’re besotted with Buttermere for sure and hope to return for a longer stay!
