Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor

We are about 10 pages from finishing our current read-aloud at the Chino House.  Here’s what I love about being at this point in a book with my kids.  When they get home from school tomorrow I could ask them if they would rather finish Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry or watch TV and eat Doritos and they would pick reading.  It’s a great set up.

We have taken a long time to finish this book because we have to stop frequently and answer questions.  The most asked question:  Why…?  Sadly, I never really have the answer.

Sweet little Cassie Logan and her family have provided a setting for a lot of conversations to take place that I have known for a long time that I want to have with my kids.  I’m so grateful to author Mildred D. Taylor for her carefully crafted story.
