Thank you for an excellent review of the book&#039;s first part. Your excerpt is truly a memorable one, and I believe it must have been Bonhoeffer&#039;s conviction about the power of the Cross and the example of Christ&#039;s sacrifice that he was willing to risk his own life for righteousness and justice. 

As for me, I&#039;m impressed from the start of how purposeful his life had been since a young age, and later bringing in focus a clarity of vision in playing a major role in opposing Hitler&#039;s atrocities. And I&#039;m utterly surprised, as you&#039;ve mentioned here, that the Bonhoeffer family was one of the very few who resisted the Führer.
