So glad to hear you had success. My computer is in fact still at the airport but I am having a lot of trouble actually retrieving it. Prayers and hopes continue. :)

I hope you got it back?? I too look for the grateful in difficult situations. Beautifully written post, even if the subject matter isn't. Your trip looked fab, can't wait to see more from it. xxx

I'm sorry that your story made me laugh. (It's not the circumstance but the way you tell it, because in the telling you found at least a little bit of humor in it.) And then it made me smile. I love that you found peace.

The closest similar thing I can think of (because it's been just a year and anything beyond that is gone from memory) is that on our way to visit Bruce's ailing mother in California, we left our suit bag in a hotel in New Mexico. Once we arrived in SoCal, I had to buy a pair of long pants and a couple of tops because all I had were shorts and a few running tank tops in my gym bag. The hotel held onto our suit bag until our trip back home.

A month later we were back in the car to go bury Bruce's mom, and the forgotten suit bag, while inconvenient, was put in perspective.

Once you get your computer back (and I know you will - it's why I can laugh), you might consider an online service that performs the backups automatically, in the background, while you work.

As a longtime subscriber to Kim Komando's newsletters, I've started using a service she has recommended for years (long before they began advertising with her): Carbonite. It's $60 a year, with 2 bonus months right now and a 15-day free trial. Once I installed it and did the initial backup (which took a while because I have so much stuff), I forgot about it as it began running in the background. I never think about it anymore. I like it so much better than that darn external hard drive. An online service means you can access your stuff from any computer with Internet access.
I believe the promo code is KIM, but if you want to try it and can't find it, let me know. http://www.komando.com

That's my public service announcement for the day. Looking forward to the announcement that you found the laptop! :-)
