Taido has always longed to see the French Alps, and specifically, the mountain town of Chamonix, which is nestled just underneath Mont Blanc. Engelberg is about five hours away so we loaded up our camping gear and spent a couple of nights in this little French campground.

When we first arrived, the clouds were covering the mountains so we didn’t realize how perfectly situated the campsites were.

After we got our tents set up, we went into the town to explore. There was a jazz festival in Chamonix the week we were there so we ended up getting a dinner picnic at the store and eating it on a green space in the middle of town where we could hear the music.

Our whole family really loves a good mountain town vibe. Like all mountain towns, Chamonix was full of fun little gear shops and restaurants, but you could also find boulangeries, gelato and even macarons.

Even fresh fruit and vegetable markets.

And cheese. So much good cheese in France.

When we woke up the next morning, the clouds had cleared a little bit and we could see the mountains just over our tent.

Our campground even had a little coffee shop with picnic tables. So adorable.

The most fun surprise at our campground was that a bakery truck arrived every morning and set up shop, selling baguettes, croissants and other yummy pastries out of the back.

Ben and Simon took off running in the morning when they heard him honking his horn.

We were sad to say goodbye to Chamonix after just a couple of nights, and we all said we would love to go back again one day. Also we wish all campgrounds had bakery trucks!
