Back To School In Aberdeen, Scotland, Week 2

In The Pipeline + Back To School

Aberdeen, Scotland, Week 2, Back To School

The kids started at their new schools in Scotland this week.  Super exciting!

They get to wear these darling uniforms that they pretty much despise.  Until now, my boys could probably count the number of times they’ve worn a dress shirt and tie on one hand.

This is the best I could do on a first day of school shot of Cole.  He loves neither the uni, nor having his photo taken, so he’s a typical 16 year old.

Coffee in Aberdeen, Scotland, Week 2

Now that the kids are in school, Taido and I can have important meetings over coffee in darling little outdoor cafes.  ALL BY OURSELVES!

Coffee in Aberdeen, Scotland, Week 2

My sweet mama has arrived and she and I are doing fun things like visiting every possible grocery store in search of black beans and green chiles.  Among other things.

Do you have anything fun planned this weekend?  We have a possible trip to a castle planned for the weekend, plus lots more walking about the city and trips to the beach!

If you find yourself browsing the internets this weekend, here are a few links!

Things That A Foreign Student Found Weird About America.  I love to hear an outsider’s point of view.

The most oft eaten dish here in the UK is Chicken Tikka Marsala.  We had it this week with a jar of sauce but next time I’m going to try to make my own.

Have you ever heard of Sarah Von Bargen’s Network of Nice?  I used it this month to meet folks in Aberdeen and I’ve already had some responses!  It’s a great resource if you’re moving to or visiting somewhere new or if you need some help with a project on the internet.  It’s always fascinating to me to see what projects appear.

Also, Ann Voskamp released a new book today.  It’s a book for Christmas, but I already want it. I’m a huge fan.

My SIL, Whitney Loibner, made me cry this week writing about becoming part of our crazy family. I am so grateful for her!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  1. I love, love the idea of having coffee in those little outdoor cafes!! I just ordered Ann Voskamp’s new book. I’m a huge fan, too!

  2. I love tikka masala and think its best topped with a relish of English cucumber, lemon juice, cilantro and S & P. You should try it (if you can find cilantro :)!!
