homemade pesto recipe

Fresh Pesto Recipe

Here is my fresh pesto recipe in honor of the bunch of basil in this month’s basket from the farm.

I use my food processor to make this, but i’m sure you could use a blender too. You can serve this on pasta or on sandwiches made with homemade bread.

Fresh Pesto Recipe

(for about 1 lb of pasta)

2 cups fresh basil

1/2 cup good olive oil

1/2 cup grated parmesean cheese (i buy the big hunk and grate it myself…it tastes better)

1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts (i use walnuts…cheaper)

2 cloves garlic

1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt

Blend all ingredients together. Use immediately or freeze.

i love this pesto tossed with whole wheat penne pasta, fresh tomatoes and goat cheese. enjoy!
