I’m excited to share with you how we’ve been using a fun new camera at our house as part of a post sponsored by Collective Bias®.
I bought my new Samsung Smart Camera at Walmart, where an attendant helped me figure out what kind of memory card I would need.
(I need that kind of help, friends.)
Then, I immediately took it home and started playing with it.
The camera is a Smart Camera (Samsung WB200), so it has WIFI capabilities.
What this means for me is that I have used this camera for the last month or so without ever having to connect it to the computer. FREEDOM!
Now, it does have a cord that can connect to the computer, but I just haven’t opted to use it and here’s why.
I can take a picture on the camera and send it straight to where I want it to go. Right then.
This happens in a variety of ways. I can connect my phone to the camera prior to taking pictures and then all the pictures I take send straight to my phone.
Or I can email a picture to myself from the camera over a wireless network.
Or I can upload a picture to Facebook or another website straight from the camera, over a wireless network.
So, all those photos I shared from Crystal Bridges last week? I took those with this camera and then sent myself just the ones I wanted to use for that post!
The beauty of this system is that all I needed to put that blog post together was my phone and my camera, so I was able to do the whole project without my computer, which is handy for a girl who likes to be traveling and writing at the same time.
My other favorite thing about the WIFI on the smart camera is that you can use your phone as a remote to take a picture. The camera’s viewfinder actually appears on your phone screen so you can get the shot you want without being behind the camera.
So this picture of my daughter and me? I took it. My phone is in between us on the floor and it is controlling the camera, which is sitting on a chair in front of us. What? We were giddy when we figured out that we could do this!
This is taking selfies to a whole new level friends.
And, OH, THE INSTANT SHARING!!
This weekend I’ve been visiting my sister in Glen Ellyn to celebrate what would have been my grandmother’s 90 birthday. We had a party at her restaurant, Blackberry Market, and after we took this photo, I immediately wanted to share it on Instagram. So, I sent it to my phone, edited it and posted it to Instagram! Done.
Why not just take the picture with my phone in the first place? Well, the Samsung smart camera is better than the one on my phone. It has a much better zoom and works better in low light, so I can share pictures that are a little bit nicer than the ones I am taking with my phone. There are also some features on the smart phone that I don’t have on my phone.
Like, who doesn’t want to cartoon themselves every once in a while?
So much fun, right? You can also sketch yourself or oil paint yourself? Then there are lots of normal camera options as well, panorama and micro. Also significant is that the auto feature has worked just fine for an UNprofessional like me.
In fact, we’ve taken this camera everywhere for the last month and I have loved the results.
Enjoy this little photo tour of our first few weeks of SUMMER FUN!
Here’s one of my favorite views in Arkansas! Lake Hamilton from the porch of Whitney’s parents’ lakehouse.
Whitney and I escaped over there recently to enjoy a little girl time and to get in some fun outdoor food blogging.
I also took the smart camera to our friends’ farm where we celebrated Simon’s birthday!
Fishing on the pond and playing with the animals made for a perfect low key birthday for our littlest guy.
There were new bunnies and new sheep at the farm!
So cutie, all the little animals.
The kids had a great day and I got some great photos.
I also checked in on the garden I helped our friends plant this summer. Looking good!
The shaded pavilion at the farm continues to be one of the best places I know of in the world to take a break from the sun and enjoy the company of others.
Last week we went downtown in Little Rock to have lunch with some friends.
I let the kids take the camera along and play with the different features.
I LOVE the fun cartoon shots they got of our familiar stomping grounds.
These are places we walk around ALL THE TIME, so it was so fun to see them from a different view.
All the great-grandkids passed out tiny pieces of my grandmother’s favorite chocolate cake at the restaurant in memory of her.
After the party, my mom, sister and I went to Talbot’s and tried on clothes because that was my grandmother’s favorite store. I’m still in shock that this orange shirt I’m wearing is on sale in 2013, friends, but then again, Grandmother would probably have bought it. And she would TOTALLY have looked adorable in it!
We took this picture on the smart camera in the dressing room with the remote viewfinder from my phone.
I’m sure the ladies in Talbot’s thought we were cuckoo. We were laughing so hard in the dressing room.
We also tried on about 50 pairs of shoes.
I’ll spare you the photos of that.
I hope you’re having some incredible SUMMER FUN and capturing it with GREAT PHOTOS!
Happy Monday! Love somebody with your whole heart this week and take a picture of it! 🙂
