Creaky Old House

Creaky Old House , a children’s book by Linda Ashman, arrived in Simon’s Easter basket and we are loving it!

The whole story about how to fix a very loved old house when a doorknob breaks is told in bouncy rhyming verse.

Michael Chesworth’s illustrations are gorgeous!  I love this one at a local hardware store!

The end result is that the family decides they love their old house just the way it is, which makes me happy.  We have lots of things around our house that need fixing, but this sweet book is a reminder of what truly makes a house a home.

Makes me think of my creaky old house (although not sure I’m loving it right now!) :) Maybe I need to read it.

  2. Just stumbled on here. I will have to get a copy of this book. I have an old house myself that I am constantly fixing!! Thanks for sharing this.

This is a great book that we bought after picking it up at the library one time. It is our son’s favorite book and we read it to him regularly. But we have to read it fast because long distance calls to his college dorm are expensive!
